Michelangelo Caravaggio

This painting "Beheading of John the baptist" was created in 1608 isconsidered one of Michelangelo Caravaggio's prized works. this piece particularly draws me because of the way the lighting is shown on the subjects faces and the shadows in the background. the shadows really make this piece some to life and its amazing when you think something with that much depth it is on a flat piece of paper.
