I chose this portrait by Kathe Kollwitz because it portrays a real human emotion. It may be distress, sadness, or even anger. I like that you can use your own interpretation to decide what the subject is feeling and maybe even an idea why they are feeling this way. The use of lines gives it an interesting texture for a drawing of a person and the shading gives more of a hint to the emotion being portrayed.
