Course Outcomes:     The students will be introduced to the various techniques of
                                    drawing.  They will use a wide variety of drawing mediums to
                                    include pencil, charcoal, oil and chalk pastel, and mixed media. 
                                    They will explore these mediums drawing various subjects to
                                    include still life, portraits, landscapes and abstract.  Numerous
artists and art history movements will be presented for discussion    and contemplation.  The students will synthesize these activities to
                                    better understand the power and importance of drawing as an art
                                    form.

Grading and Evaluation
To pass this course, you will need to complete all the sketchbook assignments, 12 projects, complete the 5 page paper and take a final examination covering the materials and history in the text.  Attendance is mandatory.  Three unexcused missed classes will result in the dropping of the letter grade by 1, 5 absences the grade will be lowered by 2.  I will evaluate the content as follows:

Sketch Book
Each week there are two required sketch book assignments.  This is a minimum, but the student is encouraged to use the sketchbook as a journal for both writing ideas and drawing experiments.

Blog
You will be responsible post one meaningful blog each week pertaining to art, art history contemporary art or art theory on Blogger. Attendance for the blog post share will be required for credit.

Critiques
Your finished drawings will be looked at and discussed critically with your peers.  Attendance and participation is mandatory.  This is one of the most important tools artists use to help reflect and improve their work.

Final Exam
The final exam will be comprehensive and cover the materials and artists covered in the text.
